We carpool to work two days a week and always have a great time. Mondays and Wednesdays are our designated carpool days and we take it in turns to share the driving. "The 30 min drive to work is always more interesting on a carpool day and the reduced maintenance and fuel costs are an added bonus. Should one of us not be able to make the carpool, we simply text each other before a specified time. Only once in 3 years has there been an event which left one of us without a lift home, which was easily solved by getting a lift with another colleague. Carpooling has taken a little communication and planning to get under way, but the benefits far outweighed the change and we still have 3 other days with plenty of time to fit in other jobs to and from work."  I car pool with someone I met through work after we realised we lived near-by each other. We generally alternate who will drive week by week but keep the arrangement very flexible. If one of us wants or needs to drive on our own, we just text the other person the night before, but we usually travel together about three times a week. The added bonus is that it makes you get to work on time and leave to go home on time which is great! We seem to talk about food a lot and have started swapping a few recipes !
